Gatley is getting a wine/champagne bar
Work has begun on the old Barclays Bank building on the corner of Church Road and Gatley Road (opposite the Horse & Farrier) on what is believed to be a wine/champagne bar after planning permission was granted for the same.
According to our Liberal Democrat councillors it could open within the next six months and provide the village with something it hasn’t really had before, as well as creating competition for both the Farrier and the Prince of Wales.
While it is pleasing the building isn’t to be converted into yet another takeaway (or, for that matter, restaurant) one wonders whether or not a wine/champagne bar will see enough business to make it a going concern.
The people of Gatley will, of course, vote with their wallets and we wish the venture every success.
