Gatley’s Big Bake in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care
Callaghans, Lowick Mackay, Magic Moments and Remember When will each have a table of cakes and goodies outside (weather permitting!), with pupils from Gatley Primary School in charge of taking donations.
The focus is on raising money for a charity that provides much needed care and support to people with cancer and their families. The shops, whilst not connected commercially, were keen to come together to highlight such an important cause.
Sean Callaghan, Managing Director said:
These days it’s rare to know someone who hasn’t been affected by cancer; it can shake a person, their family and friends to the core and we were keen to show our support.
I’m delighted our neighbours agreed to link up for the bake sale, it shows that we’re putting community fundraising before anything else, which is how it should be when its comes to supporting such a brilliant cause.
Gatley Primary pupils, who are part of the young Gatley Village Partnership initiative, are forgoing their lunchtime play to come into the village to help the shops out with serving the goodies and, importantly, collecting donations. Cakes will be available from 1.30-3.30pm.
