High Grove Robbed, Staff Attacked – Did you see anything?

Robbery at the High GroveStory from the Manchester Evening News:

A woman was hit with a hammer and a staff member assaulted by two men in a pub robbery in Stockport.

The offenders forced open the door of The High Grove Hotel on Silverdale Road, Gatley, as a staff member was trying to lock it.

They punched him and put him in a head lock before forcing him to give them money.

Hearing the commotion, a woman walked downstairs, disturbing the men.

Seeing her, they chased her upstairs before hitting her with a hammer.

They grabbed the money and left.

The offenders were described as black men and were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

Detective Constable Colin Teasdale said: “This was a nasty robbery where two people have been savagely attacked.

“Thankfully, both victims’ injuries are not serious despite one of them being struck on the head with a hammer.”

He added it was not known whether the offenders left on foot or in a car parked nearby.
