The 2016 Gatley Family Sports Day, organised by Gatley Village Partnership, took place this past weekend. The weather was perfect with the sun out but not too hot and the turn out was fantastic.
The morning events included three bike rides of varying difficulty, with the 50 Challenge setting off around 9am and the rest following shortly after. The Kid’s Sports event was well attended with plenty of Gatley’s youth enjoying the competition and tuition.
Into the afternoon and William Scholes Playing Fields came alive with the buzz of friendly competition in a variety of free sports and events, as well as the stalls and BBQ all enjoying a brisk trade!
A huge thanks has to go to GVP, especially Clare Forrest and her team of marshals and helpers on the day which included Bernadette and Andrew McKnight, Vic Holmes, Colin Owen, David Bailey and a lot more. And also to you, people of Gatley, for turning out in numbers and making it such a huge success.
Check out the gallery below and we hope to see you all again next year!

Meanwhile, away from the afternoon fun on Scholes Fields, PGA professional put three groups of budding young golfers through their paces in a Golf Taster event. From the photos below, it looks like they enjoyed it immensely.
Great junior coaching session today at Gatley Golf Club as part of the Gatley Sports Day. Some very funny moments and some good little golfers for the future.
