The 2015 Gatley Food and Drink Festival got off to a phenomenal start with the Gatley Bake Off held at St James’ Church Hall. The number of entries and the quality of baking far surpassed the organisers expectations, as did the number of people who came along to support the event.
Gatley Village Partnership would like to thank the judges, Rev Matthew Carlisle, John Mather and Edith Barnwell who scored the entries under the same rules as the original Great British Bake Off programme.
The winning entries in each category were:
- Gatley Baker of the Year: Shirley Norbury
- Over 14’s Runner Up: Francesca Owen
- Under 14’s Gatley Baker of the Year: Joni Randall
- Under 14’s Runner Up: Regan Burns
The event was supported by Kate’s Cuisine who provided free canapes for the event, and whose dishes had everyone anticipating more great food when the competition entries were put on sale.
With the Gatley Village Partnership selling aprons and lunch bags, and St James’ Church volunteers supplying tea and coffee there was something for everyone at the event. Thank you to St James’ for providing refreshments and the venue.
The Gatley Bake Off kicked off a full programme of events that are taking place in the village until Friday 17th October, download your programme here.
