UpdateA few weeks ago I spoke to Clare Forrest about temporarily taking over as interim chair of GVP as no one else had come forward and I have agreed this until it’s safe to hold an AGM for the community to attend in order to vote volunteers into positions on the committee.Kim from Bibita and I had put in applications to the local council on behalf of GVP to hold the annual Christmas Event in the park, with backing from Clare, local councillors and some businesses however it is felt given current circumstances that this would be better to postpone until next year and consider an Easter market and event. Katie Millington of love beauty has today set up a virtual Christmas market in its place in order to raise much needed funds for Gatley food bank and to support local businesses. In April, GVP should have had its AGM. For obvious reasons this could not happen. This means that, since April, GVP has, in effect, not existed. The Chair and the Secretary had both resigned prior to the postponed meeting, after many years of service. There is hope of a future merger with the Festival Committee and talks are ongoing.
